What Customers Say About Acer AL2216Wbd 22" LCD Monitor - Black:

Considering it's (then) original $300 price tag and my $119.00 purchase price, it would truly qualify as a real steal. I used a DVI-D cord and didn't really notice much of a difference going from VGA to DVI until I watched a movie and played a few games.

It was actually an open box item that had one dead pixel in it. For the price and the clarity though I thought it would be worth a try.Granted, it doesn't have USB ports or speakers but I don't like those in a monitor anyhow.

I saw this on sale at Best Buy for $119.00 brand new. It doesn't have a lot of user settings other than for the brightness level but that's acceptable given the price and the already good picture quality. The two video inputs are VGA (standard at this time) and DVI-I.

I mean how good can 1"-2" speakers really be.After getting it home and hooking it up to replace my HPvs15, I was pleasantly and thoroughly surprised. The brightness is very good, picture sharpness was excellent and the color is vibrant and brilliant.

The DVI input really does make a difference there. It's very lightweight (something I expect in an LCD monitor) and can only be tilted up or down. However, comparing this monitor to some of the other $300+ monitors that were beside it or very close to it, I still would have gladly paid the $300 MSRP because it really is THAT DAMN GOOD.

Maybe I'm being harsh because I'm comparing it to the fantastic Gateway. It has no features.

I bought it as an inexpensive (it was for me when I bought it in November 2007) second monitor. I suppose time has now passed this 22 inch monitor by.

The colors on the acer are dull, the stand is REALLY wobbly (I have to be very careful when I clean it). My first monitor is the much pricier Gateway 22 inch monitor, the FPD2275W.

I really should have ponied up the money for a second Gateway. On the other hand, what features do I really need in a monitor.

Still, I'd look elsewhere.

I regret buying an ACEr monitor as it bothers my eyes. I don't know if it is the size of the monitor or the brand but unfortunately, i can't take it back as we've owned it too long so we'll put it on a computer we seldom use. I have a Samsung and Princeton monitor which do not bother my eyes. Next time we'll stick with those brands.

I bought this for my girlfriend maybe six months ago and she is in love with it. You get a great value for the price and the device is solid performance wise.

I wouldn't even mention this, except that this is the first monitor I have ever owned that does this. The monitor also provides you with complete control over color temperature, contrast, and brightness, and a handy little auto-adjust/quick-switch feature that lets you swap settings on the fly (if, for example, you go from reading a book online to playing a video game). I have fairly high standards when it comes to displays, so I was hesitant to purchase a monitor that may cut corners to trim the price by a few dollars. But you won't notice this when the display is lit up, so don't worry about it unless you're a perfectionist.(3) The housing is cheap and unstable.

I've experienced no blurring and no defects of any kind. I have been using this monitor for about two months now, and I'm impressed. It's strange.(2) The backlight bleeds through around the edges when the screen is black. While adjusting it, I worry that I'll break it. There are no fancy controls here, but I haven't needed any.I only have three complaints, and none of these are deal-breakers: (1) The monitor is very slow to wake up.

This is mostly an aesthetic flaw, and I don't believe it affects the quality of the picture, but seeing a strange halo around your screen definitely makes it look cheap. Overall, this is a great monitor, and you're hard-pressed to find more bang for your buck in the 22" widescreen category. After all, many of us spend hours each day staring at a monitor, so it better be decent; and, for its cost, this display is excellent: colors are crisp, contrast is great, standard resolution is nice (1680 x 1050), and we're given both both digital and analog inputs. Of course, this is a value monitor so we can't expect Apple's aluminum housing here, but this monitor wiggles like Galloping Gertie if you bump it. In both Windows and Ubuntu, when you move the mouse or press a key to wake it up, you'll have to wait about 5 seconds before it turns itself on.

That may not sound like a long time, but if you're used to your monitor waking up immediately, it can be really annoying. And it doesn't give you much flexibility when positioning it. This is a great find.
